Jaipur: Robbers decamped with nearly Rs 26 lakh by cutting the ATM at Laxmangarh town in Sikar on Tuesday.
Two hours after the incident, nearly Rs 15 lakh was looted from another ATM at Fatehpur which is 20 kilometre from Laxmangarh.
Police believed that an organised gang could be behind both these loots and the robbers are professionals in using gas cutters due to which they just cut the part of ATM to find cash boxes. Sprays were used to make the vision of CCTV blur.
According to police, robbers equipped with gas cutters, hammers and rods entered the ATM booth in Laxmangarh at 1.56 am on Monday. “It took nearly 26 minutes in cutting the portion of ATM machine. They stole nearly Rs 26 lakh,” said police.
The matter came to light in the morning when a sweeper came to clean the ATM booth.
Prior to this Sikar police was working on solving another similar case of ATM robbery at Fatehpur town of Sikar in which robbers decamped with nearly Rs 15 lakh.
“The second incident must have taken place at 3 am at Bawari gate situated ATM in Fathepur in which the robbers decamped with nearly Rs 15 lakh. The robbers sprayed chemical to make the vision of CCTV blur,” said a senior officer of Fatehpur police station.
Kunwar Rastradeep, superintendent of police, said, “The modus operandi suggested that same gang could be behind both these incidents. Our men are behind them as we have some good clues on the whereabouts of the fleeing gang. Hopefully, we will work out the case.”
Police have got the CCTV footage of the incidents and were analysing other details.
In the Fatehpur’s case the bank authorities came to know about the case as their siren and other gadgets were working.
