In a bid to maintain the security of cash vans and ATMs, the Gurugram police have issued an order to security agencies and banks. The list of special SOPs was issued, keeping in mind the rise in robberies from cash vans in transit, ATM thefts and more.
As per the order, private security agencies will not be allowed for cash transportation activities unless they hold a license under the Haryana Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005.
It will be done only by virtue of a contract between a licensed private security agency or cash handling agency, along with the concerned bank.
The agencies will be required to provide private security for cash transportation activities.
According to the new list of SOPs, cash transportation will be allowed through vehicles with GPS, owned by banks or agencies. KYC verification, police verification of the drivers and other concerned persons and a thorough antecedent check must be done.
The banks must inform the police in case of any movement of cash above Rs 25 lakh.
